The Sydney Build Expo 2022

Sydney Build is Australia’s Largest Construction, Architecture & Infrastructure Show

The two-day event showcases all the latest opportunities in NSW and Australia.  It connects all key players in the industry and attracts attendees from contractors, architects, engineers, housebuilders, developers to government and construction professionals.

I was invited to become an Ambassador for Women In Construction as a representative of MCE and went along to support our colleague Annabella Dao as she spoke on the subject of Women In Engineering.  Joined by 4 of her female peers it was wonderful to hear them talk about their personal experiences as women in transport, the ways in which the industry is supporting women in transport and the changes they see happening within the next 2-3 years.  It is clear that the representation of women, in such a traditionally male dominated industry, has come a long way and that there are plans and actions being taken across the industry to increase female participation dramatically.

Our Business Development Lead, Clare Fenwick also attended the Expo with National Association of Women in Construction (Australia National) last week.  Clare is a Committee member for NAWIC who co-sponsored the WIC networking hub.  In Clare’s words “There was such a fantastic buzz at the event. Great to see so many women coming out to network and support each other.”

The future is bright and the word is getting out there that the transport, infrastructure and engineering industry is an interesting and engaging place to be – for all.

MCE is committed to increasing our female representation on our Team and in our work.
