PWI Winter Dinner Event

MCE News

Permanent Way Institution of New South Wales

The Institution was formed in 1884 in England by a group of dedicated railway people, who felt the need for an avenue for exchange of track design, construction and maintenance. The New South Wales Section was formed in 1974, not only to benefit from those who had gone before, but also to add to the development of still more efficient rail transportation in the years ahead.

The PWI hosted its annual Winter Dinner at Doltone House Hyde Park last Friday 17 June. Members of our MCE Team attended with some of our valued clients.  With over 300 guests there was great interaction and networking with railway personnel of varied disciplines, contractors, suppliers and consultants.  Add in a fabulous live band, magician, cartoon artist and fun photo booth and it was a fantastic night of socialising and entertainment.

MCE’s Push Up Challenge!

MCE News

Our MCE Team is helping to support the mental health of Australia.

Since the beginning of June a small (and mighty!) cohort of the MCE Team have taken on the “Push Up Challenge”.  We are helping to shine the spotlight on the number of lives lost to suicide in 2020 and raise awareness of mental health. Our aim is to complete as many of the target 3,139 push-ups as possible over 24 days in June to raise awareness and funds for mental health.  So far, over 16 days we’ve done over 5,500 push ups between the four of us  – and we still have another 8 days to go!

Our chosen charity is LIFELINE, if you would like to support such a worthy cause:

https://www.thepushupchallenge.com.au/fundraisers/mcepushupteam

Your donation will go a long way to help fund Lifeline’s crisis support services to ensure no one in Australia has to face their darkest moments alone.

Thanks in advance – we would be very grateful!

Supporting the Red Cross

Image, MCE News

In these unprecedented times of crisis around the world – from the devastating floods in NSW & Queensland here in Australia to the ravages of war torn Ukraine, Red Cross teams are on the ground doing what they can – providing life-saving humanitarian help.  From relief and recovery activities to assisting people displaced by conflict, the Red Cross will be there as long as they are needed.

MCE recognises the amazing contribution of the Red Cross and is grateful to be able to support and donate to both Red Cross Appeals.

Please consider making a donation to directly help those impacted by these current emergencies. The need is immense and the teams and the people they help would be extremely grateful.

Happy International Women’s Day – 8 March 2022

Design, Image, MCE News

Happy International Women’s Day!!

Today we braved the rain ☔️ and headed into the City for High Tea to celebrate the women of MCE, Annabella Dao, Jennifer Finn, Clare Fenwick & Nicky Fell and wish all women across the world an amazing day.  Thinking of those affected by the floods along our Australian East Coast in particular – stay safe everyone.

We asked Jennifer – who also happens to share her own birthday today with all the women in the world! –  to give us her thoughts and experience as a female working at MCE…..

Jennifer started working as a Document Controller with MCE in April of last year.  She is currently working on the Sydney Metro West project where she brings over ten years of Document Control experience with her.

“In my role, every day is different and challenging at the same time…every day is a learning day in the Engineering Industry!  I’ve had the opportunity to work on some incredible projects over the years with some great teams, which I’m glad to be able to say had some wonderful female leadership.  I’ve been very fortunate to be a female empowered by the construction environment.

One of the most rewarding parts of my job is being able to help people, whether it’s assisting the team with technical support or setting up new processes to facilitate access to the most current documentation on the project.

It’s very exciting knowing you are playing a part in bringing these projects to life.”

We look forward to bringing even more female representation into our expanding MCE Team.
