Smart Energy Expo 2024

Smart Energy 2024!

Last week saw the two-day Smart Energy Conference & Expo 2024 held in Sydney.
MCE’s Director Stephen Pascall and MCE’s Energy Lead Aidan Bone attended the high-profile conference to meet prospective clients, discuss MCE’s energy capability and understand new technology that is being brought to the energy sector.

Smart Energy 2024 was the 62nd annual conference & exhibition for the Smart Energy Council.

There were a number of very interesting presentations from government representatives as well as the private sector.

It was great to hear from and be educated by:

  • many industry professionals on the challenge of providing a balanced renewable source of energy for Australia across wind, solar, batteries and pumped hydro,
  • governments in how they are establishing policies to drive more renewables and strengthen the power network across each state,
  • the Hon Chris Bowen MP (Minister for Climate Change & Energy) on the governments’ strategic initiatives
  • the Hon Paul Scully MP on changes NSW is making to planning laws to enable accelerated use of renewables including communal batteries,
  • the Hon Allegra Spender on proposals to enable more renewable energy for the wider population,
  • the Hon Malcolm Turnbull on hydrogen and stored pumped hydro, and
  • Rod Sims AO on the economic and climate case for green steel using hydrogen.

It was also very concerning to understand the effects of global climate temperature increases on the human population and why we must all embrace a new way of thinking / acting to reduce our impact on the planet.Since last year, MCE has focussed on bringing its extensive project, commercial and engineering management expertise to support the growing energy sector and do our part for the environment.
